"If she doesn’t, I will have to believe that she has a simple answer. Don’t be poor. Be rich like I am."

I can't tell you how many arguments I've gotten into with people where this exact phrase comes up. I'm beginning to wonder how we can fault people for their views when the government takes the "capital" part of "capitalism" so literally. If the system endorses candidates like this (and the citizens, as well) is it not just an accurate reflection of what is already going on in this country? My guess is that McCain is trying to appeal to the sexists and the racists. Those who won't vote for Obama because of his skin tone are probably not too keen on women having a hand in running the country either, which is why McCain so ingenuously reminds everyone that of COURSE women can't be president - they can just sit pretty in the second-fiddle slot and say "yes sir" "no sir". To think that he would let her actually DO anything is probably expecting too much. He just wants a puppet who will nod in agreement with whatever horrors he plans to inflict upon us.

I added your blog to my blogroll. I'm not sure if you read it, but check out "Bitch" magazine: Feminist readings of pop culture. It's beautiful.
